Filip Walkowicz is Managing Director, Global Real Estate and Workplace Productivity, responsible for Akamai’s Center of Excellence in San José, Costa Rica. In this role, he provides local leadership to ensure a thriving, collaborative workplace culture for all local employees working in a remote or hybrid environment. As a member of Akamai’s Global Operating Committee and Latin American Operating Committee, he collaborates with the regional leadership team and local site leaders to analyze and monitor regional business function needs, guide functional growth, and drive efficient collaboration across functions and countries in the region.

In addition, he is a leader of Akamai’s Global Site Governance program, which equips Akamai’s local leaders to promote the company as a great place to work at the company’s major locations around the globe. He is also a member of the Remote Inclusiveness group that support’s Akamai’s flexible workplace program, FlexBase.  

Previously, Walkowicz was Managing Director and Site Leader for 10 years of Akamai’s Center of Excellence in Krakow, Poland, home to more than 1,000 local employees and Akamai’s largest site in Europe and third largest worldwide. There, he was responsible for fostering Akamai’s collaborative culture among all employees working remotely and in hybrid environments. He was successful in building a true multifunctional Center of Excellence. In addition, he served in various roles as IT Customer Support Director, Internal Customer Care Senior Manager, and IT Technical Support Manager. He was also a member of Akamai’s EMEA Operating Committee. 

Prior to joining Akamai in 2012, Walkowicz was at IBM and International Paper, where he held various operational management roles as a 1st Line Manager, IT Customer Support Trainer, SAP Business Analyst, IT Service Desk Team Leader, and IT Customer Support Analyst.

He earned a master’s degree in international relations from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and holds a graduate-level certificate in International Relations from Sciences Po Lyon — Institut d’Etudes Politiques, in Lyon, France. Since 2014, he has been a board member of ASPIRE, the Association of IT & Business Process Services Companies in Poland, which promotes and develops opportunities in IT and business process services.
