Kim Salem-Jackson is a data-driven, global marketing executive whose 20-plus-year career has been focused on activating marketing as a growth engine and amplifying marketing’s impact on the business. She is passionate about advanced analytics and data science, and using that data to achieve optimal marketing efficiency. Previously, she served as Akamai’s Senior Vice President, Global Marketing & Corporate Communications, where she led global field, customer and channel marketing, events, corporate communications, and the sales development organization.

In 2021, the impact of the Akamai Foundation’s philanthropic activities continued to expand beyond science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, deepening our commitment to digital equity and inclusion around the globe and to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Our work continued to have incredible impact this year, and it is my honor to announce the release of the 2021 Annual Report.

The report once again celebrates our efforts to encourage the next generation of global technology innovators, and it also shines a light on the Foundation’s response to environmental disasters, civil unrest, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud that we support the health and well-being of our employees who are committed to our purpose to make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.

The Foundation would like to express deep gratitude for the generous support of Akamai employees and the contributions that they have made in their communities, with their time, insight, and passion around funding impact grants. These grants ensure that we are supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and extending our reach to amplify our community impact. When it comes to giving back, Akamai employees are a powerful reminder that there is power in collective action.

In 2022, the Akamai Foundation will continue the important work in motion and will also explore how Akamai’s purpose informs its philanthropic efforts. Additionally, we will be launching some exciting new programming and partnerships to help remove the barriers that contribute to exclusion in the technology ecosystem, providing new pathways to STEM for diverse populations of learners.

In the same way that Akamai is dedicated to powering and protecting life online, the Akamai Foundation is dedicated to building relationships, empowering access, and creating a more diverse tech future globally.

We’re so proud of the impact we’ve had in support of our mission to power and protect life online, and we’re looking forward to the new avenues of giving that 2022 will bring.
