Latinex Month and Our Culture
Eleven months ago, I joined Akamai as a result of the acquisition of a company I was partner of. The former company was small compared to Akamai, but had operations in several countries in the region, from Argentina to Mexico. In this company, we had been working with Akamai for 17 years, but on November 1, 2019, we officially became a part of the family.
Starting a new job, as becoming part of a new family, is always challenging. You don't immediately know who to connect with to perform your activities, you have to learn new processes and tools, and you also need to understand and absorb the culture -- which is less tangible and sometimes the most time-consuming part of the process.
After almost one year, I can say that we have a strong team in the region, regardless of the length of time with Akamai. Along the process, we have been able to witness the openness and the availability of the whole company to truly support this integration; everyone demonstrated a genuine interest in making it successful, offering flexibility to deal with our lack of knowledge, and having open eyes and ears to welcome the outside experience.
My belief is that the One Akamai value inspires people to ensure everybody is working in harmony.
In Latine Heritage month, it's great to see how hundreds of people in this geography feel at ease. They are recognized for their contributions to Akamai, and are proud to be a part of a company so committed to its values. The Latinx Heritage echoes in our culture and values, and spotlights the contributions of these passionate people who put their hearts in their friendships, beliefs, and work.
