Becoming a Comms and Analyst Relations Leader
My parents were first-generation immigrants from India. They worked hard, made Singapore their home and took all and any challenges head on. They have always lived by the simple philosophy, 'to be the change'. It's a philosophy that I try to live too, and in many ways it's what attracted me to Akamai not too long ago.
We're at the heart of the internet and cybersecurity, and globally we are a trusted name. But what excites me is that we have the opportunity to become the thought leader, the expert and the go to partner in the most unique and exciting region in the world - Asia Pacific Japan. Not only is it a region that is growing incredibly fast, but it's one that embraces technology and disruption very easily. Countries leapfrog technological advances here, and the more I have ramped up my knowledge of the role we can play in this region the more excited I have become.
Culturally it's a region of immense diversity and difference too. Which is an extraordinary opportunity when you think about the talented, well-connected, intelligent minds you get to work with at Akamai. I am very appreciative of how open and supportive the teams are. I appreciate being able to call on colleagues who have such vastly different experiences to discuss and brainstorm ideas.
Then when you think about the number of countries in this region and the diversity of our customers, communicating with them becomes the extraordinary challenge. To tell our growth story across Asia requires very nuanced tactics and approaches. And as a communicator it's very fulfilling when you see those play out and deliver results.
That multi-cultural aspect of life is also why I love living here in Singapore. I've worked across Asia and the US, but to me Singapore is home. I love how cosmopolitan it is. The food is amazing, and we are spoilt for choice - from street food to Michelin star dining. It's an amazing place in an amazing region, and I'm incredibly energized about establishing Akamai as the intelligent leader out here and helping shape the online experiences that transform the way people live, work and entertain themselves.
