RedSalud Secures Its API Inventory

Established in 2008 to develop a national network of healthcare providers, RedSalud is the largest private inpatient, outpatient, and dental network in Chile. Through its 9 hospitals, 30 ambulatory clinics, and more than 40 dental clinics, RedSalud’s mission is to provide comprehensive, quality medical and dental care to Chileans. As it enables connectivity across all the IT systems and endpoints composing its network, the company must ensure the highest levels of data security. To that end, RedSalud took advantage of Akamai API Security.

As IT Corporate Director for RedSalud, Daniel de la Maza understands the need to protect API endpoints in order to secure sensitive patient and company information. This requirement became a growing priority as the number of APIs throughout RedSalud’s network grew. As he explained, “We have been working for several years to strengthen all our security practices and, inevitably, that extended to the many points of integration enabled by APIs across our network.”

After exploring its security options, RedSalud chose to implement Akamai API Security. After a straightforward and seamless integration, the company gained newfound visibility into its API inventory.

According to de la Maza, RedSalud has achieved full visibility into the state of its APIs with the Akamai solution: “The tool is robust and responsive, and has given us peace of mind that we have visibility of everything happening at the API level.”

The solution and partnership give RedSalud confidence as it continues to modernize its network. “We are carrying out a digital transformation, which will mean more traffic across our network. Partnering with Akamai helps us safeguard that aspect of our network,” he concluded.
