We spent 365 days supporting, uplifting, and empowering one another and the communities in which we live and work.

I’m genuinely excited for you to read the Akamai 2023 ESG Impact Report. While every section is full of incredible data, stories, and examples of Akamai living our purpose — to make life better for billions of people, trillions of times a day — I’ll admit that the Our People section is my favorite.

Even as someone who is fortunate to work at Akamai and spend my days alongside our amazingly talented employees all across the globe, it is inspiring to see their collected outputs highlighted in this annual report. We spent 365 days supporting, uplifting, and empowering one another and the communities in which we live and work.

Akamai’s commitments to connection and progress

In the report, you’ll read about the commitments Akamai has made to staying connected as work continues to evolve, and how our global remote work policy, FlexBase, has strengthened our ability to stay productive while also responding to the feedback of our employees.

You’ll read about the progress Akamai has made, not only in becoming even more diverse across a breadth of dimensions like gender, ethnicity, and geography, but also in our immense commitments to inclusion, engagement, and ensuring that every employee at Akamai is respected, valued, heard, and seen.

We share our data openly and humbly, knowing that although we’ve made progress, we will always continue to focus on delivering the best experience to our customers, by delivering the best experience to our employees.

A culture of community, development, and volunteerism

You’ll read about how our incredible Employee Resource Groups create community, support development, and strive to have a positive business impact, and how they do that by engaging with partners both inside and outside of Akamai.

You’ll also read about the considerable impact of the Akamai Foundation, which has given more than US$2.7 million to encourage the next generation of technology innovators, and, perhaps more valuable than the funds, has engaged Akamai’s considerable energy and talent globally, to organize the power of our teams through volunteering.

Maintaining our momentum

The Our People section could have included so much more of the magnificent work that Akamai employees are doing across the world. We captured just a bit of the amazing work happening globally, and I hope that as you read through the 2023 ESG Impact Report, you are as inspired as I am.

I thank all our employees and partners for sharing their stories and experiences. And I thank you for reading about their contributions and our progress — and for being part of our journey.
